Malcolm Sharp

Chair, SF-041 Committee - Safety of Machinery, Standards Australia
Malcolm Sharp has been involved in the development of machinery safety standards for 30 years and is the current chair of the Standards Australia committee for machinery safety. He was the managing director of Fortress Interlocks Pty Ltd from 2009 to 2022 when he partially retired. He is now the owner and director of Cat4 Safety Pty Ltd focusing on machinery safety training.

From 1995 to 1999 Malcolm was a member of the US committee responsible for the 1999 publication of the R15.06 standard for Robot Safety. He created the B11 LMSS machinery safety course, based upon the US B11 standards in 2020 and was a member of the B11 Standards Development Committee. Malcolm is a firm believer that training should not only be educational and informative but should be entertaining too. He is only to aware that standards can be perceived as a “dull” topic and presents in an animated style to engage with the audience.
