2D Barcoding for Streamlining Supply Chains

About Michael:

Michael Dossor is a well-known packaging industry professional and the General Manager of Result Group, bringing over 35 years of expertise across print, machinery, and materials. Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in advancing traceability, sustainability, food waste reduction, and smart packaging technologies, ensuring businesses stay ahead in an evolving regulatory and consumer driven landscape.

With a strong focus on traceability and supply chain transparency, Michael has helped brands implement innovative solutions that enhance product identification, improve recall management, and drive operational efficiency. He has played a key role in introducing and advocating for 2D barcodes in Australia, supporting their adoption as the next evolution of product identification. By replacing traditional 1D barcodes, 2D barcodes enable real-time data sharing, product authentication, enhanced consumer engagement, and seamless compliance tracking, all from a single scan.

Michael actively contributes to industry wide initiatives that shape the future of connected packaging. He is involved in multiple working groups, including the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP), where Result Group has been a Full Member since 2007, with Michael serving as a Board Member and lecturer. He also plays a key role in End Food Waste initiatives, APCO’s National Packaging Targets Implementation (NPTI) Working Group, and GS1 Australia, where Result Group is a GS1 Strategic Alliance Partner. His work with GS1 has been instrumental in helping businesses transition to 2D barcodes, unlocking greater supply chain visibility, efficiency, and sustainability.

Michael’s expertise in bridging the gap between packaging, traceability, and sustainability has made him a key voice in the industry. In recognition of his contributions, he was named "Industry Professional of the Year" at PIDA 2023. His work continues to drive the future of product identification, supply chain intelligence, and digital transformation in packaging.
