Robotic Picking & Handling Using Vacuum Technology
Vacuum technology is revolutionising robotic picking and handling by enabling the safe and precise manipulation of delicate and uneven surfaces. Widely used in material handling, it enhances efficiency across industries such as logistics and food processing.
This talk explores vacuum automation in real-world applications, including bin-picking of small products, high-speed package handling, and robotic palletising/depalletising of individual products and full layers. Additionally, vacuum technology facilitates the gentle handling of delicate items like folded towels. These examples highlight the versatility and reliability of vacuum systems in modern automation.
About Michael:
Michal Vigoda joined Schmalz Australia as the Managing Director in 2024, previously holding various roles at the US branch as an applications engineer, manager, and, most recently, as a director focusing on the Vacuum Automation side of the business. He led teams to design and build innovative vacuum gripping systems for wide range of industries. He participated in several panels presented by RIA and later A3 (Association for Advancing Automation) about robotic gripping, EOAT, and automation. A3 is North America’s largest automation trade association involved in robotics, artificial intelligence, machine vision & imaging, motion control & motors, and related automation technologies.
